Since yesterday, Danes have been witnessing a remarkable sight on the northern beaches of Jutland: a multitude of scattered shoes and slippers, as if thousands of Cinderellas had hurriedly fled the ball. This surreal scene was caused by the container ship Mayview, en route from Bremerhaven, Germany, to Gdansk, Poland, when it encountered a severe storm off the coast of Denmark . Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the ship lost several containers of goods, mostly shoes. The container ship Mayview is owned by the Danish shipping company AP Moller-Maersk (Maersk), headquartered in Copenhagen.
