South Korea launched a spy satellite
Two events occurred within days of each other: North Korea launched a spy satellite, and later the Republic of Korea launched its own spy satellite from a US military base in California. Representatives of both countries claim the satellites are intended to spy on each other and prevent aggression. The situation on the Korean Peninsula has become even more tense. The Koreans , divided into two countries as a result of the Korean War , began a process of rapprochement several years ago, with the goal of unification. However, this process has now reversed, and no one is considering a peaceful solution.
